The Western Ghats is one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in India. It extends from Gujrat to Kerala (North to South) covering Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The total length of the Western Ghats is
1600 km with a width of
100 km covering an area of 160,000 square kilometers. The highest peak in the Western Ghats is
Anamudi, Kerala in the Eravikulam National Park with an elevation of
2,695 m (8,842 ft).
I have visited the Western Ghats multiple times covering Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. This mountain range does not only include the mountains but the beautiful national parks, water bodies - reservoirs, lakes, waterfalls, and beautiful plantations like tea, coffee, spices. As per a post from
Walk Through India, there are a total of 7 different species found in the Western Ghats including Royal Bengal Tiger, Giant King Cobra, monitor lizards, and Asian elephants.
